As a family practice in Dearborn, we are equipped to handle all types of dental emergencies, including:
Teeth that have been knocked out, especially due to sports injuries, are common dental emergencies. If you act quickly, we may be able to save the tooth. Keep it clean, and place it in milk or saltwater until you can get to our office.
If a tooth is broken, try to save any pieces and keep them moist, ideally by placing them in a container with milk or saltwater. We may be able to bond it back in place, so be sure to bring the broken pieces with you when you come in for treatment.
If your crown is damaged, we will likely need to replace it. In the meantime, mild anti-inflammatories can help control discomfort, but schedule an appointment soon to avoid further damage to the underlying tooth.
Toothaches are often caused by infections, cavities, or inflammation. Use ice packs and mild over-the-counter medications to help ease discomfort, and avoid using heating pads, as they can actually encourage bacterial growth and worsen the condition.
If you have a chipped or cracked tooth, avoid biting down on it or chewing with that side of your mouth to prevent further damage. Seek immediate care to prevent the crack from compromising the overall structure of the tooth, which could lead to more extensive damage.

Not all dental concerns are obvious emergencies, like a knocked-out tooth or severe pain. However, it is better to always be safe and call your dentist if you believe you may have a dental emergency. In some cases, you may be able to wait until the next day, but we do our best to see emergent cases as soon as possible. Kaylee and Dr. Allswang made me feel super comfortable and informed about my procedure. They both are kind and caring. Great dentist office! I had to return for additional care and April, Brooke and the rest of front desk bent over backwards to get me in quickly and get my issues taken care.
